Definition
The software actually running in a VOTING DEVICE may differ from the software that was certified for that device or which was origina lly installed in the device. An important component of voting system integrity is the ability to validate what software is running on it. Software identification requirements that suppor t the authentication and integrity of voting system software using digital signatures provi ded by test labs, National Software Reference Library (NSRL), and notary repositories form part of the security coverage of the 2007 VVSG.
