Primary definition

The "part of a ballot card that is designed to be punched out by the voter." Miss. Code Ann. §23-15-461(e). The "small piece of paper or cardboard produced from a punch card ballot when a voter pierces a hole in a perforated, designated position on the ballot with a marking device to record the voter's candidate, question, or issue choice." Ohio Rev. Code §3506.16. The "scored portion of the ballot card which is punched out of the ballot card by the voter when casting a vote." 31 Ky. Admin. Regs. §2:010(1)(8).
