Primary definition

A network protocol (IEEE 802.n) that is used to permit local area network devices to communicate with each other. Ethernet connections use a Cat 5e connector cable. Many of the devices used in polling places will use an Ethernet connection to establish connectivity with other devices (e-pollbooks, card activators, etc.).
