A type of in which the paper ballot is but must be deposited into a VVPAT VOTER-HANDLED ballot box before the voter leaves the polling place, as opposed to systems. TAKE-HOME Deposit systems subdivide into two classes, those in which the ballot must be deposited and scanned in order to count, and those in which counting is performed electronically after the voter indicates assent to the ballot. The risk in systems not requiring deposit is that the voter may remove the printed ballot from the polling place and use it as a receipt to claim payment in a scheme. This is possible because the ballot has already been counted at the VOTE-BUYING time it is removed by the voter.
