A "mechanism that allows voters to cast a single vote to select all candidates on the ballot from a single political party." GLOSSARY. Some states, such as Illinois, outlaw straight-party voting. 10 Ill. Comp. Stat. §5/1-7. Slightly more than half the states allow it. See also PENNSYLVANIA METHOD, SPLIT TICKET.
